Welcome to Bilsdale in the North York Moors National Park
Bilsdale is a special place in the North York Moors National Park. The dale lies between the viewpoints of Clay Bank to the north and Newgate Bank to the south with the market towns of Stokesley and Helmsley located close to each end of the dale.
The area is a popular tourist destination with its rolling dale, patchwork of fields bound by drystone walls and expanse of heather moorland. There are many excellent walks around Bilsdale ranging from short, easy strolls to more challenging longer distance hikes. The Cleveland Way, Lyke Wake Walk and Coast to Coast Walk all travel through the northern end of the dale.
Bilsdale offers a varied range of accommodation from small bed and breakfast facilities on farms, to shepherd huts and holiday cottages. In addition, the Buck Inn based in Chop Gate also provides accommodation and Lord Stones Country Park has a café, farm shop, luxury pod cabins, nomadic yurts and bell tents.
Finally, there are 2 defibrillators situated in Bilsdale, one on the wall of the Buck Inn in Chop Gate and the second on the wall of the Spout Inn, situated about 5 miles south of Chop Gate on the B1257.
